Elisha was the Gr,Gr Grandfather of Judy Johnson. He was the son of William Rogers Capps & Lucy Fly. The FLY name is not Indian; the name can be traced back to England, but Elisha's maternal Great Grandmother married a Cherokee Indian and possibly his Grandmother also. Elisha was a gentle, self-taught, intelligent man. He married Mary Ann Stout July 8, 1849 in Carroll Co., TN. She was the daughter of Lemuel & Polly (Capps) Stout. They moved from TN to Dent Co., MO with their 4 children in 1855; their other 5 children were born in MO. When Mary Ann insisted that Elisha 'do away with' the man who twice impregnated their oldest daughter, and he would not do her bidding, she left him and went to Texas Co., MO. Mary Ann is buried at Ray Cem. in Texas Co. Besides the daughter, Alice, they had 8 other children: William Lemuel, H.Granville, John A., Stephen Andrew, Albert S., Frances, Calthy Jane, and Matilda E.'Kit'.
