Funeral services for Charles McHand, 79, of Sicily Island will be 11 Monday, June 12, 2017 at Wayside Pentecostal Church. Interment will be 2 pm at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be 5-9 Sun, June 11 at the church.

Mr. McHand was born March 24, 1938 to the union of John Lee McHand and Matti Lee Walker McHand and passed from this life on June 7, at Overton Brooks Veterans Hospital in Shreveport.

Mr. McHand was a veteran serving in the United States Navy; he was a truck driver and enjoyed mowing and watching westerns. He loved riding his motorcycle, his dog Coco.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Robert, Tommy and Shorty McHand; two sisters: Pearlie Mae Knott and Lillie Mae McKnight; son-in-law, Daniel Davidson.

Survivors include three daughters: Sandy Davidson of Sicily Island, Charlotte Poole and husband Mark of Winnsboro, and Chassidy McHand and fiancé Scott Holloway of Ruston; 3 grandchildren:  A. J. White, of Sicily Island, Rachel Taylor and husband Daniel of Haughton and Josy Poole and wife Beth of Jonesville; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Holloway, Mark Poole, Daniel Taylor and A. J. White.
