TALLULAH — Funeral services are set today at 4:30 p.m. at the Meadow Grove Baptist Church here for R. L. McHand, 47, of Tallulah, who was killed Thursday morning when his pickup truck hit a transport truck that was coming out of the west exit of the Highway 80 Truck Stop one mile east of here.

The Rev. Don Rainey will officiate at the services with burial to follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Delhi under direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah.

McHand was a transport truck driver and on his way to work in Vicksburg, Miss.

McHand was employed by the Red Ball Freight Co. and was a native of Haynesville. He had lived in Tallulah for 15 years and was a veteran of WW II and a member of the Meadow Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Betty McHand of Tallulah; four daughters, Carolyn, Sara, Elizabeth and Kathy, all of Tallulah; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Lee McHand of Rayville; three brothers, Thomas McHand of Tallulah, Charles McHand and Willie McHand, both of Rayville; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mae McKnight of Buras and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Kuatt of Baron, Calif.

Pallbearers include James Still, Wendell Sellers, Chester Deggans, Herbert White, Frank Skipper and Gerald Lott.
