Funeral services for Willie "Shorty" McHand, 79, of Rayville, LA will be held 11 am Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Grantham officiating. Interment will follow in Stevenson Cemetery in Holly Ridge, LA. Visitation will be 9:30 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. McHand was born September 25, 1933 in Richland Parish, LA to John Lee and Mattie Lee Waller McHand and passed from this life on August 18, 2013 at Charlyn Nursing Center in Winnsboro, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Robert McHand and Tommy McHand; and two sisters Pearlie Mae Knott and Lillie Mae McKnight. Mr. McHand served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Mae McHand of Rayville, LA; three daughters Carol Cain and husband Donald; Connie Morrison and husband William all of DeRidder, LA; Sherry Clark and husband Tommy of Rayville, LA; one son John McHand of and wife Rebecca of Winnsboro, LA; one brother Charles McHand of Sicily Island, LA; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Jones, Brandon McHand, Curtis McHand, Heather McHand, Charlie Morrison and Bradley West.
