John supposedly had the reputation of having the most beautiful vegetable garden around, according to his friends. He worked tirelessly every day weeding and cultivating. Then in the mid afternoon he would sit in his lawn chair under his favorite elm tree and whittle neat things for his grand children, who spent the summers at his farm. He was a wonderful grandad. You should have heard him play "Old Dan Henry," on his Jews Harp.
