Funeral rites for James Thomas Baygents, 89, of Lucedale were held July 27 at 3 p.m. at George County Funeral Home Chapel.

He was a native of Wayne County, a retired civil service employee and farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He died July 24 at the George County Hospital following a short illness.

Survivors include his wife; two son (both now deceased James David Baygents and Jessie Claude Baygents); two daughters; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Also surviving are two sisters, (both now deceased, Francis Busby and Ruby summlin); and four brothers, (one now deceased, Henry Lee Baygents).

Services were conducted by Rev. Ricky Mitchell and Rev. John Stegall. Interment was held in the Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery with George County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
