Mrs. Grigsby had been residing in a nursing home in Merkel for the past nine months.
Born Oct. 17, 1906, in Glen Rose, she was the first of T.A. and Emma Landers' eight children of whom LeRoy, Mildred, Fern, Madge, Floye, Marie and Don all preceded her in death. Vivian was a young girl when her family moved to McLean, where she lived most of her life. She met and married Arlie L. Grigsby there on Sept. 2, 1925. He died on Aug. 25, 1974.
Vivian will be remembered for her caring nature, generosity, hard work and humility. She was noted for baking biscuits, cookies and pies. She enjoyed growing irises and continued to tend them until age 99. Vivian was a member of First Baptist Church in McLean most of her life, and looked forward to being with her Lord and Savior.
She was also preceded in death by her two eldest children, Jack on Jan. 11, 2006, and Joyce on Aug. 15, 2004.
Survivors include a son, David; two daughters, Arline and Emme; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
