Doris Waneta Howell, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Lombard, Illinois, passed away May 22, 2017, at the Christian Village. -

Doris was born Sept. 8, 1925 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer L. Gehlbach and Alma C. (Werth) Gehlbach. She married Floyd Richard Howell on June 11, 1950 in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2005.

Mrs. Howell graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1943 and graduated from Lincoln College in 1945 with an Associate of Arts Degree. She was a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill., and a member of the Green Valley Unit of the DuPage County Homemakers Extension Association.

Survivors include her son, Bruce G. Howell; grandsons, Jason Howell and Andrew Howell and sister, Norma Rankin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd and son, Brian K. Howell.
