Marietta C. Shaw, age 69, of Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Council Bluffs, passed away May 20, 2007, at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City.
Marietta was born July 23, 1937, in Omaha to the late Ethelbert C. and Etta (Hansen) McGilvray. She graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1955 and married Darold L. Shaw on September 2, 1960. Marietta and her husband owned and operated Council Bluffs Window Coverings for 20 plus years.
They moved to Arizona 10 years ago. Marietta was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist where she was a reader, Eastern Star Chapter # 440 where she was past worthy matron and the Council Bluffs Square Dance
Club. She enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Lake of the Ozarks entertaining family and friends.
Marietta was preceded in death by her sisters, Elfreda Ahrens and Lilly Hedrick; brothers, Bruce and Bert McGilvray.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Darold L. Shaw of Sun City, Ariz.; daughter, Loretta Shaw, of Council Bluffs; sons, Steven Shaw and wife Carolyn, of Council Bluffs, Kevin Shaw and wife, Kim, of Gilbert, Ariz.; 7 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service, Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at Best Funeral Services in Peoria, Ariz. Graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Ridgewood Cemetery, Council Bluffs. Memorials are suggested to First Church of Christ Scientist, 504 South 6th St., Council Bluffs, Iowa 51501.
