He was born on January 28, 1948 in Rushville to the late Claud N. and Helen (Lee) Buchanan. He was a Rushville High School Class of 1967 graduate.
Eugene was a United States Marine Vietnam Veteran from 1966-1970 and served Reserve duty until 1972.
Eugene worked for 30 years as a laborer at Detroit Steel. He also worked for 10 years at Knauf Fiberglass in Shelbyville, retiring in 2011. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post #150 in Rushville.
Eugene is survived by his his son, Joshua E. Buchanan of Pendleton, a daughter, Jennifer (Larry, Jr.) Bush of Fillmore, brothers, Marion L. (Pam) Buchanan of Knightstown and Keith A. Buchanan of Cleveland, OH, 2 grandchildren, Tayler Bush and Lance Bush.
Eugene is preceded in death by his brother, James R. Davis and 2 sisters, Shirley Jean Buchanan and Lavon Schoettmer.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary in Rushville, IN, with Pastor John Wall presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary on Wednesday evening, May 17, from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in the Rushville East Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Rush County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
