Francis LaVon Schoettmer, 70, of New Castle, sister of Eugene Buchanan of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at her home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Marcum Community Funeral Home, 1402 Audubon Road in New Castle.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.

Francis LaVon Schoettmer, 70, of New Castle, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.

Born Feb. 21, 1937 in Rushville, she was the daughter of Kenneth Sherman and Helen Lorene Lee Buchanan. She married Robert E. Schoettmer Feb. 9, 1991; he survives.

Mrs. Schoettmer was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dunreith. She worked as a CAN at Rush County Hospital and Miller's Merry Manor.

Survivors in addition to her husband include children, Kenneth Chase of Florida, Harry (Chris) Chase of New Castle, Paul Chase (and companion Patricia Isgrow) of Florida, Brian (Kim) Chase of New Castle, Pam (Michael) Dishman of New Castle, Kim (Chris) Campbell of Hazard, Ky., Mike (Ann) Griffin of Clarksville, Chris Schoettmer and David Schoettmer of Greensburg; brothers, Marion (Pam) Buchanan of Knightstown, Eugene Buchanan of Shelbyville and Keith Buchanan of Columbus; 30 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James Davis; one sister, Shirley Dean Davis; one daughter, Theresa Lynn Chase; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marcum Community Funeral Home in New Castle with the Revs. Tim Dice and Brett Rains officiating. Burial will follow in New Castle's South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
