Farmer and Revolutionary War veteran. A founder of Nassau, during the Revolution he served in the Fourth Regiment, Albany County Militia. A farmer all his life, a 1786 surveyor's drawing of his farm appears in the 1983 book "Mills on the Tsatsawassa" by Philip L. Lord and Martha A. Costello. He was the husband of Heart (Hart) Gardner, the father of Stephen Van Rensselaer Bateman and my great (times 5) grandfather.
