Emil C. Kroening, 66, Stratford, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday at the Marshfield Living Center, where he had been a resident since May 14, 1985. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford. The Rev. Dan L. Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Judy Polege will be the organist for congregational singing. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian and Kurt Kroening, and nephews, Robert and Larry Stuhr, and Glen and Roger Kubitz. Visitation will be at Sauter Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford, after 4 p.m. today, Saturday until 9 a.m., and then at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Emil was born July 21, 1902, in the town of Cleveland, to Charles and Emilie Kroening. He attended the Stratford schools. He married Eleanor K. Pember Sept 9, 1933, in Marshfield. He farmed in the town of Cleveland until his retirement in 1972. He then moved to Stratford. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1983. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis R. (Marjorie J.) Redetzke of Marshfield; two sons, Donald of Stratford, and Marvin of Wausau; and five grandchildren. I He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, and six sisters.
