STRATFORD — Mrs. Alma Stuhr, 85, Route 3, died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where she was admitted June 10.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev. Donald L. Gauerke officiating. Mrs. Judy Polege will be organist. Burial is to be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Marvin and Donald Kroening, Gerald Niehaus, Virgil Folz, and Roger and Glen Kubitz are to serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday and until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home and from noon until services at the church on Wednesday.
The former Alma Kroening was born April 29, 1895 in the town of Cleveland and attended Stratford schools and Marathon County Normal at Wausau. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Amelia Retzloff) Kroening.
She was a school teacher in Fenwood and town of Wien schools before her marriage here on Oct. 26, 1922 to John Stuhr. The couple farmed in the town of Day. He died May 6, 1968. She had been residing at Continental Manor Nursing Home at Abbotsford since April 1976.
Mrs. Stuhr was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its American Lutheran Church Women organization.
Surviving are one son; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Emma Van Ryzin, Stratford; and two brothers, Emil Kroening, Stratford, Stratford, and Edward Kroening, Pelican Lake. Four sisters are deceased.
