Church Hill - Rheata Wallace, 88, of 337 Adam Ave. passed away Monday (Aug. 21, 2000) at Holston Valley Hospital and Nedical Center folling a brief illness. Mrs Wallace was a life long resident of Church Hill and was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was a retired school teacher with the Hawkins County School System with 27 years of service. She was a charter member of Rebekah Lodge No. 24. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude C. Wallace Sr.; her parents, Orbin and Nannie Hawkins Marsh; stepmother, Maude Tucker Marsh; brothers, Orbin Marsh Jr., Ed Marsh and Buster Marsh. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Frank Marsh, Church Hill; one son, Claude Wallace Jr., Orlando, Fla.; one grandson and wife, Kevin and Amy Marsh, Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Dawn Wallace, Orlando, Fla. and Anna Marie Wallace, Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Joe Marsh, Church Hill; one sister, Gertrude Messick, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter, Elizabeth Marsh 337 Adam Ave. Church Hill. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rye Fleenor, the Rev. Billy Gilespie and the Rev. George Winegar officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Elm Springs Cemetery.
