Mae Archibald, 88, of Idaho Falls, died May 14, 2017, in Idaho Falls Idaho.

She was born August 17, 1928, in Parker Idaho, the oldest of six children, to Burdette Remington and Martha Hanks Remington. She grew up in and attended school in Parker and graduated from South Fremont High School. She was active in school activities and somehow found time to fish (with the best of them according to her Dad) and could drive a truck under the spud harvester without breaking anything. She also attended Ricks College.

During one of her piano lessons, she met two young soldier boys who were home on furlough. She thought one of them was pretty cute. His name was Robert L. Archibald from Salem, Idaho, and after some months of dating, she married Robert on March 11, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They are the parents of two girls (Sharon & Julie Ann) and 6 boys (Lane, Robert, Terry, Russell, Paul & Scott) and she loved being a full-time mom to them. She celebrated her last Mother’s day (on this earth) with her Children here and with her Children who have passed on before.

She was a life long and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was blessed to serve in many positions within the Church organizations, including Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. She served as organist for many years in the organizations of the Church. She and Robert also served a Mission for the LDS Church in Washington, DC in 1991-92 and still have several loved and cherished friends in D.C.

She loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion (in her younger years), piano and organ. She enjoyed attending any kind of ball game in which a Child or Grandchild might be playing in. Robert played in several dance bands during their early marriage years and she attended most of those dances too. She sang with the MelloDaires in St. Anthony for many years until she moved from Parker to Idaho Falls in 1969. She loved her flower gardens and was famous for her Raspberry and Huckleberry jam she made (by the hundreds of pints) each year. Notwithstanding, her greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by: her children Lane (Chris) and Scott of Idaho Falls, Sharon (Rod) Robison of Rexburg, Bob (Shauna) of Mapleton Utah, Russ (Carey) of Castledale Utah and Paul of Midvale Utah; her sister Mardette (Royce) Allen of Centerville Utah and her brother Ralph (Julie) Remington of Twin Falls Idaho; and 26 Grandchildren and 62 great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Robert, her parents, her brothers Kent (Alda), Jerry (Shirlene) and Alva (Norma Jean), her Sister Janice (Richard) Bassett; her daughter Julie Ann (stillborn), her son Terry (Cindy), and 3 grandchildren: Michelle & Jamie (Lane’s) and Redge (Sharon’s).

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the LDS Shadow Mountain Ward, 3721 Shadow Mountain Trail, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Church. Burial will take place in the Parker Cemetery in Parker, Idaho

The Family would like to express their thanks to the caregivers and staff of MorningStar and Aspen Hospice for their tender and loving care during the last 7 months.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund, c/o LDS Park View Ward, 2965 Green Tree Lane, Idaho Falls, Id 83404
