Esther Belle Bruner, 79, 315 S. Pleasant St., Milroy, died Friday, March 13, 1987 at 6:30 p.m. at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 30, 1907, in Rush County, the daughter of Lory and Ora Sweezy Hankins, and spent most of her life in Decatur County. She had resided in Milroy the past nine years.
She was married to Earl M. Bruner Oct. 29, 1925, and he preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1986. She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. and Donald E. Bruner, Milroy; five daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Elouise) Remmler, Butlerville, Mrs. Henry (Florence) Shelp, Mrs. Francis (Mable) Williams and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Martin, all of Greensburg, and Mr. Richard (Linda) Drew, Connersville; one brother, Paul Hankins, Milroy; two sisters, Lila Bell, and Mary Avis Whitaker, both of Rushville; three half brothers, Walter Hankin, Louisiana, Calvin Hankins, Milroy, and Charles Hankins, Kentucky; one half sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Roberta June) Connover, Waldron; three grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Murphy and Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, with the Rev. Jim Bushfield officiating. Burial will be in the East Brook Cemetery in Milroy.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
