JOHN WINN "DOOLY" ARNETTE (Lt. Col., USAF-Ret.) of the Indian River Colony Club in Melbourne, Florida died January 27, 2011. He was the son of Robert Evans and Sara Hall Arnette, and was the last surviving sibling of ten children. He spent his early life in Fairfield County's Winnsboro, S.C. and attended local schools. He attended Clemson Agricultural College (now Clemson University).

He was a veteran of World World II and served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps. He later retired from the U.S. Air Force after a 27-year military career. He was retired from the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security in Coral Gables, Florida and had a subsequent career in the export business. A widower, his wife, Phyllis Jean Pelton, preceded him in death. Surviving are sons, John C. (Joyce) and Peter M. (Denise) and grandchildren, John D. Arnette and Karl L. Essig. A memorial service was held March 24, 2011 at Indian River Colony Club's Colony Hall in Melbourne, Fla. Published in FLORIDA TODAY February 4, 2011 and re-written.
