Born March 31st, 1936 in Bradford she was a daughter of William and Ruth Goodman Bigley. On April 7th, 1956 in Port Allegany she married Frank C. Cochran, who survives.
Shirley attended Eldred High School and was a lifelong resident of the Eldred area. She had been employed by Jaguar Manufacturing in Smethport, but spent most of her career as the produce manager at Jim’s Shopwise in Eldred, retiring in 2003.
Mrs. Cochran was an active member and past president of the Eldred American Legion Post 887 Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and following NASCAR, especially her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 61 years are two sons, William (Julie) Cochran of Duke Center, Douglas (Paula) Cochran of Coudersport; and two daughters, Vicky Cochran of Eldred and Karen (Dan) Smith of Eldred; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Brandy) Smith, Williamsport, PA, Michael Smith, Eldred, Cody (Nikki) Cochran, Duke Center, Chelsea (Nathan) Thomas, Eldred, Jocelyn Cochran, JeJu Island, South Korea, Cassie Cochran, Dentin TX, Benjamin and Sarah Cochran of Coudersport; four great grandchildren; Kayden and Kameron Smith, Williamsport, Conner and Wyatt Thomas, Eldred; and three brothers, Wade (Sam) Bigley of Eldred, Peter (Ida) Bigley of Eldred and Paul (Jan) Bigley of Smethport.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Charles, and William Jr. “Mort” Bigley; and two sisters, Alice Weaver and Patricia Drabert.
