Her parents promised her paternal grandmother that one of her grandchildren would bear her name. Imagine the pride her grandmother felt when lucky number thirteen came along. Kizzie Mae Caesar was born December 17, 1927 to Jack Caesar and Retta Brown-Caesar. The very happy and proud grandmother, who delivered her namesake, was finally happy to have the honor bestowed to her. Her paternal grandparents were Clabon Caesar and Kizzie Lockett-Caesar. Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Brown and Susan Mitchell-Brown. She was christened by Ida Johnson-Marshall and L. Williams.

Young Kizzie Mae was baptized at an early age by Rev. Roach and Rev. Hayes of Shilo Baptist Church. She took the ceremonial walk in her white robe and head wrap from Shilo, then located on Thomas Boulevard, to the fashioned baptismal pool, a creek, located near the current New St. John Baptist Church.

She united with St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S. Shepherd. She remained with St. John under the leadership of Rev. Andy Williams until she moved her membership to Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Her mother, Retta Brown-Caesar, named Mount Pilgrim as she said "WE WERE PILGRIMS TRAVELING UP THE MOUNTAIN." In 1993, she and her husband reunited with St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Elijah J. James, Sr. She has been a faithful member of the church and the Mission. MOst recently, she became the "Mother of the Church".

Kizzie Mae was a proud 1948 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. A little known K.M.T. fact is that she aspired to become a part of the WAC (Women's Army Corp.). However, her father Jack had other plans for her. She completed her education and in some ways follwed in Kizzie #1's footsteps and became an LVN. She worked numerous years at St. Mary's Hospital, Lillie Nicholas Nursing Home, and subsequently retired from Cresthaven Nursing Home in 1992. She devoted her life caring for others.

Kizzie Mae Caesar was united in marriage to Norris Timmons on December 24, 1953. To this union, one daughter (Jacquelyn Kaye Timmons) was born. She and Norris remained married for forty-four years until his death in July 1998.

She was known for her love of God, faithfulness to her church, family, and friends, her caring and giving nature, sense of humor, dry wit, and keeping it real.. Antoher little fact is that her nickname was "Mannix." She believed the old-school way of doing things. She needed to know where you were going, with whom, the parent's names, addresses, and phone numbers and yes, sometimes, their life stories. Mother, Tee, Miss Polly, as she was known, believed in us, laughed with us, advised us, inspired us to dream and to achieve. She touched our lives in ways we can't begin to explain. She was truly a gift that we still treasure, love, and will miss.

Kizzie Caesar-Timmons transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home at the age of 89 on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Caesar and Retta Caesar-Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Caesar and Esther Gabriel-Caesar; sisters, Ida Louise Caesar, Annie Bell Caesar-Harris, Mary Louise Caesar-Gray, Octavia Caesar-Hall, and Ruby Caesar-Foreman; her husband, Norris Timmons; and longtime companion, Leroy Dennis, Sr.
