Julian Everett “Toadie” Whitacre, 94, of Delray, WV died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Hampshire Center in Romney, WV.

Toadie was born on June 4, 1922 in Capon Bridge, WV, a son of the late Oca S. and Golda V. Arnold Whitacre. He worked for National Fruit in Winchester, VA, a member of the Delray Christian Church and an had a love of hunting and fishing.

He is the last member of his immediate family. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother: John Robert Whitacre; four sisters: Irene Chilcott, Pauline Sine, Mary Arnott and Margaret Golden.

A funeral service will be held at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Alanna McGuinn. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Gore, VA. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
