Milo Cardwell, 65, Route 1, Pittsburg, died at 4 am today, September 22, 1976 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee. He was born August 14, 1911 in Saline County to Sherman and Anna Phillips Cardwell. He was married to Mildred Roberts and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters; Carol Crabtree, Johnston City and Yolonde Kee, Thompsonville; brother Eagle Cardwell, Chillicothe OH; sisters; Madge Kent, Freeport; Bessie Anderson, Galatia; and Monnie Kimmel, Route 1, Thompsonville; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was a retired coal miner last working for Freeman No. 4, member of the UMWA, former Williamson County Commissioner, past president of Johnston City School Board. He was on the Board of Directors at the Bank of Johnston City and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Galatia. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. Services will Sunday at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. William Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
