Salt Lake Tribune, Friday, August 20, 1948, page 31. PROVO-Eugene Leander Capin, 64 of Orem, retired railroad yardmaster, died
Wednesday night at a local hospital of causes incident to age. He was born Nov. 7, 1883 at Silver Springs, N.Y. At the age of eight he moved with his older brother to Mt. Carmel, Ill., where he attended school and at the age of 20 he moved to Erie, Penn., where he began railroading. He married Marie Sistek and they made their home in Erie. Later they came west in 1917 and located at Pocatello, Ida., where he became a well known railroad
man. Mr. Capin moved to Provo in 1933 and has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Thomas W. Rowley, since. He was a railroad yardmaster at Geneva steel until his health failed about a year ago.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Thomas W. (Katherine) J. Rowley, Orem, and a former wife. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at noon at Wasatch lawn cemetery in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday before services.
