O. O. Allison, 58, Chester, Dies Suddenly

Democratic Leader Suffers Stroke in Capital.

Oscar O. Allison, 58, of Chester, doorkeeper of the West Virginia house of delegates and Hancock county Democratic leader, died suddenly of a paralytic stroke Monday night in Charleston, W. Va. Mr. Allison, former banker and later federal census field deputy, was stricken in the West Virginia house Monday afternoon. The body, accompanied by his son - in - law, A. L. Rabenstein, will be brought to Chester tonight. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Former House Member.

Mr. Allison, a former member of the house, having served from 1924 to 1926, leaves his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Rabenstein of Chester and Mrs. Helen Dunbar of Washington, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Ida Glass, also of Chester. Mr. Allison, who was the Democratic nominee for Hancock county sheriff in 1929 played an important role in the 33 years of his residence there. He was formerly cashier and a director of the First National bank. He was also the first secretary - treasurer of the Hancock County Building and Loan association, which was formed in March 1904. Born an a 140 - acre farm two miles south of Chester on March 21, 1872, a son of Samuel and Eliza Finley Allison, he worked on the farm and Net to school until 1887, when, at the age of 25, he came to Chester and opened a general store. He also served as postmaster here for several years.

Leader In Masonic Lodge.

Allison was one of the leading Mason in West Virginia, possessing the thirty - third degree. He was a charter member of the Chester lodge and also a member of Osiris temple, Ancient and Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; Wheeling Commandery, No. 1, Knights Templar, and the West Virginia consistory. He was a charter member of the Chester chapter of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics; first noble grand of the Pride of Chester Lodge No. 245, Odd Fellows, and a charter member of the East Liverpool Kiwanis club.

Masons Plan Services For O. O. Allison

Kadosh Memorial in Chester Temple at Midnight.

A midnight Kadosh service, with C. E. Carrigan of Moundsville and Fred Steinbicker of Wheeling, both 33rd degree Masons, in charge, will be held in the Masonic temple in First street, Chester, tonight in honor of Oscar O. Allison, 58, former member of the West Virginia house of delegates, Democratic leader and 33rd degree Mason, who died suddenly in Charleston last night. The service will be open to the public. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Allison home in Virginia avenue. Rev. J. W. Dunbar, of Washington, Pa., and Rev. W. T. McKee, of Chester, Presbyterian pastors, will be in charge. Burial will be made in the Locust Hill cemetery. Mr. Allison was stricken while serving as doorkeeper of the house of
delegates. Out of respect for Mr. Allison, the house of delegates adjourned Tuesday after adopting a resolution incorporating expressions of sympathy for the bereaved family. Coroner W. F. Kork, of Charleston, after an investigation held as a formality, returned a verdict of death by apoplexy. The body was brought from Charleston to the home Tuesday night.
