John "Joe" Purcell, 82, of Lacon, formerly of Princeville, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, IL. Joe was born on June 5, 1934, in Princeville. He was the son of Edward and Elizabeth Colgan Purcell. He is survived by one sister, JoAnne Ringness Shekleton of Peoria. Joe was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen Boylan and Betty Murphy; one brother, Father Edward Purcell. Joe loved living in the country and worked on the family farm most of his life. He farmed with his father, then with his brother-in-law, and most recently with his nephews. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Princeville.
