Helen E. "Betty" Dudek, 87, of Cabot, Winfield, formerly of Tarentum, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison. She had been ill the past two months.

She was born June 14, 1916, in Butler, and lived in Tarentum for most of her life. For the past five years, she lived in Winfield.

From 1934 to 1941, she headed the dress department at the former W.T. Grant store in Tarentum.

Mrs. Dudek was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge, Brackenridge Heights Country Club in Harrison, member and past president (1952-1954) of the Community Service Group and member of the local Christian group, Women's Aglow.

She enjoyed painting, ceramics, buying and selling antiques, and watching the Steelers.

Survivors include a son, Edward E. (Milta) Dudek of Bloomington, Minn.; three brothers, Glenn (Carmen) Hilliard of Waldport, Ore., Larry (Irene) Hilliard of Natrona Heights and Richard (Patty) Hilliard of Aberdeen, Md.; and five sisters, Jean Klingensmith of Cabot, Marjorie Barnes of Hanover, Mary Margaret Heffner of San Antonio, Mrs. Virginia (Richard) Barr of Natrona Heights and Mrs. Sally (William) Nevergold of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Also surviving are two grandsons, David E. Dudek and Jonathan A. Dudek, both of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Mrs. Mary (Chris) Davis of San Diego and Mrs. Sherri (William) Dawson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; a great-granddaughter, Brooke Davis of San Diego; and three great-grandsons, Liam Dawson and McKinley "Mac" Dawson, both of Cottage Grove, and Christopher Jared "C. J." Davis of San Diego.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert E. Dudek, on July 17, 2003; her parents, Glenn E. and Lela A. Kerr Hilliard; a brother, Robert S. Hilliard; and three sisters, Eleanor Plasick, Patricia Hill and Edith Scholl.

Relatives and friends will be received from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 10th Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Alyce Weaver Dunn. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
