Delphino Francis Quinto, 70, of Happy Home Road, Tyner, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006.Del was born Dec. 24, 1935 in Horton, Kan. the son of Jose and Sarah Hernandez Quinto. Del was graduated from Horton High school with the class of 1954. After graduation he entered the Navy, serving his country for 20 years before retiring in 1974 as a petty officer first class. Upon retirement he continued his education at St. Leo College in Orlando Florida, graduating with a degree in business administration. He was a Council Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Edenton, a faithful navigator in Assembly 2379 in Elizabeth City and past president of FOE in Virginia Beach. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Edenton. Del was married to Patricia Schissler November 22, 1972. She survives. Other survivors include three sisters,Tomasa Acosta of Kansas City, Kan., Camilla Howley of Topeka, Kan.,and Teresa Wiggins of Horton, Kan.,and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Socorro Quinto, Joseph D Quinto and Felix Quinto and a sister, Louisa Bise. The family will receive friends today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services, Hertford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Edenton, with Fr. Douglas Reed as celebrant. Mr Quinto will be cremated and buried at sea by the Unit 3, 208W. Hicks St., Edenton, NC 27932.
