FORMER VERNAL GIRLPASES AWAY HERE AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS
Mrs. Louisa Sermos, 28 years of age, of Castle Gate, former resident of Vernal, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hatch passed away on Thursday last week at the home of her parents in Vernal. She had been brought here August 4, 1925. Mrs. Sermos was born here on January 1, 1897 and was married February 16, 1916 to Nick Sermos, at Price, Utah. She was injured in an auto accident, which occurred in Willow Creek Canyon on the Price-Duchesne Road, August 18, 1923. The car in which she was riding left the grade and turned turtle. Bones of her body were crushed and she was so badly wrenched that she never fully recovered from the accident. Everything possible was done for her relief but with no improvement. She was finally brought to Vernal to be near her Parents until her death, which occurred last week.
Besides a host of friends and relatives her mother, Mrs. Luella Hatch and brothers Marion and Joe, and a sister, Mrs. Claude Eaton, her husband and two children Helen age 8 and Gus age 4, survive her.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 PM in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel under the direction of the ward bishopric. John N. Davis and Ted Longhurst were the speakers. Special musical numbers were given under the direction of Mrs. Lucile Calder and Hilda Belcher, Interment was at Vernal Cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Bishop George E. Wilkins.
