Mrs. Joann Andrew Thevenow Degler Rutherford, age 81, of Madison, Indiana formerly of Hanover entered this life on April 24, 1935 near Milton in Trimble County, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Elmer and Ruby McClure Andrew. She was raised in Trimble County and moved to Jefferson County in 1951. She was baptized at the Milton Wesleyan Church and attended North Madison Christian Church. IN 1951 she was united in marriage to Everett Thevenow in Madison. This union was blessed with Gary V. and Debbie. Joann was employed early in life with Conn Organ Company and U. S. Shoe Corporation. On November 22, 1963 she was united in marriage to Gerald O. Degler in Madison, Indiana. This happy union was blessed to raise, Sharon, Janice, Gary E. Kenny, Jeri and Elizabeth. Gerald died on December 6, 1994. Joann loved to bowl and was a member of the bowling league, she also found enjoyment in painting, wall papering, crafts, Bingo, gambling, but most of all being with her large loving family. Joann was blessed in matrimony to Robert E. "Bob" Rutherford on July 27, 1997 at the Broadway Fountain in downtown Madison. This happy union of nearly twenty years blended an already large family together but added, Debrah, Rhonda, Steve and Scott to the family. Joann was a fabulous cook, homemaker, wife, mom, grandma, granny and sister. She will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful smile, wit and the twinkle in her eyes. Joann died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 7:28 p.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana with her lovingly family at her side.

Degler and his wife, Michelle of The Philippines, Kenny Degler and his wife, Janet of Hanover, Indiana, Steve Wisner and his wife, Kerri of North Vernon, Indiana, Scott Wisner of California; her loving daughters, Debbie Taylor and her husband, Derril of Hanover, Indiana, Sharon Washburn of Hanover, Indiana, Janice Claphan and her husband, Dean of Fort Myers, Florida, Jeri Lock and her husband, Jerry of Lexington, Indiana, Elizabeth "Libby" Rush and her husband, Tom of Madison, Indiana, Debrah Stevens and her husband, Ronald of Greenwood, Indiana, Rhonda Heiman and her husband, Scott of Seymour, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Melissa, Lawrence, Dean Jr., Carrie, Monica, Gary Jr., Julier, Tiffany, Nicole, Justin, Jiah, Amber, Heather, Whitney, Hannah, Deuce, Clayton, Tera, Jason, Sam, Peter, Jason, Justin, Nickki, Trent and Todd; 38-great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Bonnie Mahoney of Madison, Indiana; her brother in law, Dick Michaels of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Andrew, her mother, Ruby McClure Andrew, her first husband, Everett Thevenow, her second husband, Gerald O. Degler died December 6, 1994, her sisters, Virginia Johnson and Nancy Michaels, her brothers, James Andrew, Uhel Andrew, and Randall Andrew, her grandson, John Clapham.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor J.D. Traylor at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky.
