FORMER SHELBY COUNTIAN DIES
Martin Luther Way died at his home near Woodland, Mo., March 19th, of a complication of troubles. He had been a sufferer from catarrh and stomach disease for some years, yet his death came suddenly. The remains were brought here Thursday and interred in the City cemetery.
Mr. Way was born December 22, 1849, in Pennsylvania and came to Missouri as a young man. For many years he lived in the neighborhood of Browning Chapel, in fact he and his brother, Cyrus , gave the land on which that church was built. He held his membership at Browning, having been one of the charter members.
Mr. Way was twice married; the first time in 1882 to Miss Jeanette Stalcup, who lived but four years, leaving two daughters; the second marriage was to Miss Fannie Hamilton in November 1893 (sic), and she died in July 1894. Besides his daughters, Mrs. C. O. Harding and Miss Edna Way, of Woodland, he is survived by five brothers and a sister: John, Harry, Alex and Clark of Shelby county, Cyrus of Woodland; and Mrs. M. R. Heninger of Santa Ana, Calif. Also two grand-daughters, Leona and Mildred Harding, to whom he was devotedly attached.
