Amos was the son of Azuba (Cummings) and Nathaniel Sprout Jr. He bought his first property in NY in 1803. All indications are that he married Sarah A. "Sally" Riddle, the daughter of Olive (Blodgett) and John Riddle, and they married by 1810. Sarah is buried next to her mother in this cemetery.

Amos was a soldier, in an administrative capacity, in the War of 1812. John Riddle was named as the administrator of Amos's estate on 11 Mar 1813, at which time both John Riddle and Amos Sprout were residents of Batavia, Genesee, NY, per probate records.

If Amos ever had a headstone it no longer exists, and he does not appear on any transcript. Amos and Sally had no children, or at least no children who survived.

Rest in peace, Amos. You are not forgotten.
