The Last Will and Testament of Abraham Bower, Deceased
of Toboyne Township:
In the Name of God Amen. I Abraham Bower of the Township of Toboyne County of Perry and State of Pennsylvania Farmer being weak in body but of sound mind and understanding Blessed be God for the Same I do make and Publish this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following Viz.
Principally and First of all I commend my Immortal soul to God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter Named. First it is my will and I do order that all my Just Debts and funeral expenses paid as soon as convenient after my decease.
Item First I will and bequeath unto my oldest daughter, Peggy Wentz two thousand dollars. I also will and unto my loving wife Jane one thousand dollars to be at Interest as Long as she lives and at her death it is to be divided equally amongst my own eight children. I also will and bequeath to my wife Jane two cows one fat Hog one quarter of beef fifteen pounds of coffee ten Bushel of Wheat three Bushel of Buckwheat three Bushels of Corn yearly and she is to have her choice of any apartment of the house she now lives in and if she wishes to go to any of the Rest of the children She is to divide the Interest of her money to pay for her expenses.
Item 2nd I will and bequeath unto my daughter Esther Loy two thousand Dollars with what she has Received. I also will and Bequeath unto my Daughter Betsy Beaver the Stall place at twenty five hundred Dollars by paying five hundred Dollars out of the sum to the rest of heirs with what she has received. I also will and Bequeath unto my Daughter Polly Garber the Garder place at forty two hundred Dollars and that Daniel Garber is to fulfill the contract agreed upon and to keep five hundred Dollars with the fifteen hundred I have Gave him to make two thousand Dollars.
I also will and Bequeath to my Daughter Sally Gutshall nineteen hundred Dollars by taking the Ridge place at seventeen hundred Dollars and two hundred to be paid her in cash. I also will and Bequeath to my son Joseph the Place he now lives on and two thousand Dollars. I will and bequeath to my grandson David Ewing three hundred Dollars to be at Interest to he is the age of twenty one. I also will and Bequeath to my grandson Abraham Bower (son of Joseph Bower) two hundred dollars and Joseph his father is to keep it on Interest for him to the age of twenty one.
I will and Bequeath to my two Daughters Liddyann and Dianah my old mansion place to be divided equal between them and each of them to pay one thousand Dollars Each out of the property to the rest of the heirs and I also will and Bequeath to my two Daughters Liddyann and Dianah two Cows four sheep and as much other property as the other Girls Got when they were married of household and kitchen Furniture and I also will and Bequeath the residue of my Estate to be Divided equal among my Eight Children.
I also order and Direct my Executors to have all payments of Legacies made in the time of seven years from my Decease. I also order and Direct that all my personal property be sold that is not in heretofore mentioned and I also will and Bequeath to my son Joseph all my wearing apparel.
I do now nominate constitute and appoint my son-in-law Jacob Wentz and Joseph Bower my son to be my lawful executors of my last will and Testament Revoking other wills. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eleventh Day of August one Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Six.
