Charlie Winegar, 78, of Edwardsville, passed away January 24, 2017. Funeral services will be 2pm Mon, Jan 30 with visitation from 1-2pm all at Chapel Hill - Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation , www.michaeljfox.org. Charlie was born Sept 26, 1938 in KCK to Milton and Dorothy Winegar. He graduated from Turner High School and joined the US Air Force. Charlie married his wife, Sharon Nail, on June 19, 1964 while stationed in San Antonio; he also served in Turkey. He worked for over 25 years as a Clerk for the US Postal Service in KCK, and was a member of the Postal Workers' Union #67. Charlie was an excellent artist and enjoyed painting, drawing and woodworking - he often sold his pieces at local craft shows. He enjoyed gardening and loved watching Royals games. Charlie was a very kind and generous person, he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Sally Flaherty. Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Winegar; his children, Sherri Owens (Kenneth Dubois), Charles "Chuck" Winegar, Jr. (Shelly), and Gary Winegar (Deeann); his brother, Thomas Winegar; nine grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
