Dorothy Maxine Winegar, 83, of Shawnee, KS, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home, Shawnee, KS. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, KS. Graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Edwardsville Cemetery, Edwardsville, KS. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. Mrs. Winegar was born April 6, 1921, in Berthoud, CO, and moved to the Edwardsville, KS, area in 1933. She was a longtime member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Turner, KS. She previously volunteered at the Bethel Center in K.C., KS, and had worked up until her illness at the Franklin School in Argentine. She was previously a block mother and a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed crafts, dancing, gardening, traveling, and camping with her family. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Milton C. Winegar; sons, Charles Winegar and his wife, Sharon, and Tom Winegar, all of Kansas City, KS; one daughter, Sally Flaherty and her husband, Ron, of Leavenworth, KS; two sisters, Mary Owens of Edwardsville, KS, and Lily Bradshaw of KC, KS; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
