2nd wife of Edwin pace

OBITUARY:

Mrs. Edwin J. Pace, wife of Patriarch Edwin Pace, who passed away at her home in South Bountiful, March 10th, at 11:50 p.m. was a pioneer of 1847. She was the eldest daughter of the late Bishop and Phebe Odell Brown and was born in New York, sixty-six years ago, the 10th of December.

Mrs. Pace with her parents gathered with the Saints at Nauvoo, Illinois and when but nine years of age, commenced the memorable march across the plains, arriving here late in the fall of 1847.

She was married to Edwin Pace in 1857. Nine children were born to them: namely, William E., Chas. E., Orlando, G. V. Pace, Mrs. F. B. Smedley, Mrs. I. C. Holbrook and Mrs. B. C. Holbrook. Besides two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Rampton and Mrs. A. E. Cooper who preceded her to the great beyond. Also thirty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She has aways been a good wife and a loving mother and a consistent Latter-Day Saint and honored by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held in the South Bountiful Meetinghouse, March 15th, at 1 p.m. Counselor Joseph Hogan presiding. There was a large attendance of mourners and sympathizing friends. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. The speakers were Elder William J. Parkin, Patriarchs Israel Barlow, Judson Tolman, Benjamin Ashby, Thomas Briggs and Counselor Joseph Hogan, all of whom made consoling and encouraging remarks. The attendance was large.
