Willie Crane passed Away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1931 Following Attack of Appendicitis

The Tuscumbia community was saddened to hear of the death of Willie Crane which occurred Wednesday, December 23, at 6;00 o'clock, at his home one mile west of Tuscumbia. He became ill two weeks previously of appendicitis and peritonitis developed a few days before his death. He was conscious until a few minutes before his death, and conversed with relatives. Relatives and physicians did all they could to relieve him, but to no avail.

Mr. Crane was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Crane and was born in Miller County September 1, 1897, being at the time of his death 24 years, three months and 27 days old. He was married to Miss Mabel Hickey in 1920 and to this union five children were born. Two preceded their father in death, and the three surviving are Freda, Wayne and Neta Fay. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters~L. E. Crane, and Mrs. Elmer Slone of Tuscumbia; Lonnie Crane of Meta, Homer Crane, Miss Stella and Mrs. Fred Bond of Ettervifie, and Mrs Clarence Brockman of Eldon.

He is also survived by his widow and his mother. He was a member of the Christian Newlight Church. He united with the church under the preaching of Rev. C. M. Sooter at Fairview church.

Rev. Sooter also conducted funeral services, which were held at the Fairview church at 2;00 p. m. Thursday, and the remains were laid to rest in the Jarrett Cemetery near the old home place on the Tavern.
