John Thomas Watson, 73, 711 Milton Ave., died yesterday noon at St. John's Hospital after an illness of five years.
He was born in Petersburg, Jan. 22, 1895 and had lived here for 51 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walker and as a youth had lived in Evansville. He was a retired roofing contractor and a veteran of World War I. His wife, Marie, preceded him in death, also a son, Orville.
Surviving are seven daughters, Miss Leona Watson, Mrs. Norma Jackley, Mrs. Jeanette Faulds, Mrs. Mary Hollenback, Mrs. Ramona McFadden and Mrs. Patricia Evans, all of Anderson, and Mrs. Betty Swift of Valparaiso; five sons, Harold Watson, Fred Watson, William Watson, Thomas Watson and William Maynard, all of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Redman and Mrs. Goldie Zehner of Evansville; a brother, Cletus Watson of Middletown; 26 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sells and Rowe Funeral Home with the Rev. G.R. Batemen, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Wilbur Watson, Don Watson, Herb Hollenback, George Clark, Ken McFadden and Larry Faulds.
