Ellington C. Adams was the only boy born to John C. Adams and Martha Stogdale Adams in Priarieton Township near Moweaqua, Illinois. He was named after his Grandfather Ellington Adams who was an early pioneer of the area. He was a brother to sisters; Ada (Kirkman), Eureka (Taylor), Zora (McGrath), Jessie (Bramblett) and Gracie Adams. Ell lived most of his life in Moweaqua, Illinois but late in life came to Ryegate, Montana to work on his sister Jessie's ranch in Ryegate. He never married. He is buried in an unmarked grave.
