AMORY Herbert Ray “Herbie” Ritter, 43, died Monday, May 12, 1997, at his home. He was born June 22, 1953, in Amory. He was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1971. He was a resident of the Cason community. He was employed by Aircap for 25 years, where he was a planter supervisor. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, trading, hunting, fishing and refurbishing antiques.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with the Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Amory.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Cagle Ritter of Amory, whom he married in 1981; his mother, Laura Louise Wardlaw Ritter of Amory; one stepson, Leslie Duke of Ripley; one brother, Robert Eugene Ritter of Amory; one sister, Mary Frances Gann of Amory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ollie Judson Ritter.
Pallbearers will be Lester Cagle, Lewis Cagle, Robert Ritter, Terry Waller, Jim Carter, Ray Parker and Hugh Thaxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Dean, Tim Laney, and employees of Aircap.
