EWING, Mo. -- Wayne Edward Bronestine, 74, of Ewing went to be with his Lord at 5:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1, 2005) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Lewis County, a son of Edward and Margaret Smith Bronestine. He married Bonnie Brown on Aug. 15, 1953, in the First Baptist Church in LaGrange. Mr. Bronestine graduated from LaGrange High School and was a member of the Dover Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served as a 4-H leader. Mr. Bronestine was a dairy farmer and earlier in his career he had operated his own milk hauling business. He was very proud of his 25 years of sobriety for the disease of alcoholism and reached out to help others who also suffered from the disease. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, of Ewing, he is survived by a son, Mike Bronestine and his wife, Barb, of Ewing; two daughters, Cathy Legg of LaGrange and Pam Cottrell and her husband, Mike, of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Jason Legg and his wife, Joann, of Lewistown, Amy DeClue and her husband, Mark, of Hannibal, Jessie Daugherty and her husband, Harley, of LaGrange, Laura Meyer and her husband, Dan, of Fowler, Ill., Heather and Seth Cottrell, both of LaGrange, and Beth Bronestine of Ewing; six great-grandchildren, Emily Legg of Lewistown, Karlie DeClue of Hannibal, Harley Colton Daugherty of LaGrange, Haley and Alex Meyer of Fowler, Madison Cottrell of LaGrange; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Dylan and Darian DeClue of Hannibal; a brother, Verne Bronestine and his wife, Betty, who recently relocated to Quincy, Ill.; three sisters, Wanda Pindell and her husband, Russell, of Taylor, Norma Trumblee and her husband, Duane, of Canton, and Doris Lay and her husband, Don, of Canton; an aunt, Alvera Bradshaw of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange by the Rev. Gerald Harrison. Burial will be in the East Midway Cemetery near LaGrange. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Dover Baptist Church or to the Ten Mile Baptist Church.
