The youngest of 6 children, Belle's parents were already in their forties by the time she was born. Her parents and four oldest siblings moved from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to Hancock County, Ohio in 1834 before Belle and brother William Welsh were born. Belle became a school teacher in a one room school house during the Civil War before she married Austin Ebersole in March of 1865. The two had a happy 60 year marriage. They were blessed financially because of Austin Ebersole's co-ownership in the Arcadia Bank which prospered for many years before its collapse in the Great Depression. Belle had already passed away before this occurrence.

Belle was very close with her family. She and husband Austin brought Belle's widowed mother to live with them in her old age until she died in 1883 at age 83.
Brother Orbison Welsh who lived on the road to Fostoria, Ohio was close as a brother. Also brother William Welsh who made a life, for himself, in Southern California hosted the Ebersole's on numerous excursions, by train, to the West Coast. Older sister Mary Welsh Kimmel, in Findlay, was another close personal favorite of Belle's along with Mary's two daughters Allie Moss and Flora Van Kampen all of Findlay, Ohio. Mary Kimmel planned Belle's wedding, in 1865, at her mansion on West Sandusky Street in Findlay where Austin and Belle were married. A picture of Mary Kimmel's mansion, in Findlay, is on her memorial page.

Austin and Belle had 3 children all of whom survived into old age. Only their youngest daughter married and had children. Son John and daughter Cora remained unmarried and stayed living in the family home all their lives. Sadly, before Cora's death in 1958, the Ebersole's beautiful home full of family treasures was struck by lightening and burned to the ground.
