John Welsh brought his wife and four eldest children to Hancock County, Ohio from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1834.
They settled in Cass Township, Hancock County, Ohio. There two youngest children would be born there.

John became a co-founder of the Methodist Church in Aracdia, Ohio.
