EMMA C. POOLE BIGLEY SMELTZER

Emma C. Poole Bigley Smeltzer, 88, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at her home.

She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Trauger, a daughter of the late Franklin I. and Delphia Belle Ansel Poole.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Montgomery Ward as a department manager. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Neil Bigley; her second husband, Kenneth Smeltzer; and her grandson, James Neil Monahan.

She is survived by two daughters, Ferne Weinman and her husband, Robert, of Rockaway, N.J., and Patricia Anderson and her husband, Gerald, of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Walter Poole of Latrobe; two sisters, Vivian Freeman of Lycippus and Louise Elder of Greensburg; the following grandchildren: Edward Keith Monahan, Shawn P. Weinman, Lori M. Anderson and Michael N. Anderson; a great-grandson, Devin Monahan; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation and funeral service will be held in Maryland at a time to be announced. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.
