She was born March 29, 1919, in Trauger, a daughter of the late Frank and Delphia (Ansel) Poole.
She was a graduate of Hurst High School, class of 1936. Prior to retirement, she had worked at the Greater Latrobe Junior High cafeteria and previously for Charley Woods Bus Co. She was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trauger. She enjoyed playing cards and was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member at St. Paul's.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Freeman; and the following brothers and sisters: Emma Smeltzer, Isabel Harr, Nellie Shick, Pauline Poole, Stella Cook, William, Frank, Ted, Francis, Samuel, John, Jake and Walter Poole.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Smith and husband, Richard, of Greensburg; her son, Charles R. Freeman and wife, Sandra, of Weltytown; six grandchildren, Brenda Snedden, Richard and Robert Smith, Charles and David Freeman and Cheryl Swink; eight great-grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew and Rebecca Snedden, Richard and Hunter Smith, Mandee Miller and Megan and Haley Freeman; a sister, Louise Elder, of Greensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home followed by a funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trauger, with the Rev. Kurt F. Kusserow officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
