She was born in Latrobe on Dec. 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Franklin and Delphia Ansell Poole.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trauger. Also, Louise was a member of the Midway-St. Clair VFD Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and card club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, William C. Elder, in 2000; a son, John Elder; and daughter, Edith Mallin; seven brothers, Franklin, John, William, Walter, Samuel, Theodore and Francis Poole; and six sisters, Nellie Shick, Stella Cook, infant sister Pauline, Emma Smeltzer, Isabell Harr and Vivian Freeman. Louise was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her sons, Theodore J. Elder (Joyce), of Whaleyville, Md., Joseph P. Elder (Sandra), of Greensburg, and Barry R. Elder (Mary), of Greensburg; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Liska; and son-in-law, Leonard Mallin; also scores of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Louise's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 108 Dutch Hill Road, Latrobe (Trauger), with the Rev. Mark A Werner officiating.
