George T. McCulley, 86, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Premier Estates.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Schoepf will officiate. Burial will take place at Muscatine Memorial Park.
George was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Louisa County, Iowa, the son of Glen R. and Ruth (Cockerill) McCulley. He married Clara Jean Wilder on Feb. 25, 1951, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death May 5, 1992.
He worked for Grosjean’s Service Station and later worked for and retired from Muscatine Power and Water. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and volunteered at Spring Valley Bible Camp for 20 years.
Those left to honor his memory include two sons, Rodney McCulley, Newton, Iowa, and Perry G. McCulley, Iowa City; five grandchildren; four brothers, James Dean McCulley and Glen J. McCulley, both of Iowa, Elvin L. McCulley, Tempe, Arizona, and Welton ‘Bill’ McCulley, Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Bonnie C. Stropes; one sister, Mary Jane in infancy; and three brothers, Robert, John W. and David T. McCulley.
