Virginia K. Charlton, 83, Carlisle passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Born Nov. 2, 1923 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Charles and Nellie Cramer Sparks.

She was formerly employed at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.

Survivors include: her husband, Elmer Charlton; one son, Donald R. Sparks of Linton; two step-sons, Jack Charlton of Florida and Dale Charlton of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Marge Anderson of Linton; two sisters, Lois Moffatt and Shirley Roach, both of Marco; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Olaf Carrico; two brothers, Charles Sparks, Jr. and Vernon Sparks; and one grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
