Donald R. 'Sparky' Sparks, 62, of Linton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Terre Haute Regional Hosppital.
He was born December 19, 1947 and was raised by his mother and step-father, Olif 'Whitey' Carrico and Virginia (Sparks) Carrico-Charlton.
Donnie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a laborer working in various fields, most recently at Carson-Firkins. He was a member of Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22.
Survivors include his sister, Marge (Jerry) Anderson; one nephew, Brent Anderson; one niece, Brittany Anderson, all of Linton; two step-brothers, Jack Charlton of Carlisle and Dale Charlton of Memphis, TN. Also surviving are his aunts, uncles, several cousins and friends.
Donnie was preceded in death by his mother; two step-fathers, Olif Carrico and Elmer Charlton; and one nephew, Brad Anderson.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 12 and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, with Bro. Virgil Bland officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with full military graveside rites.
