Obituary. Mary Alice Davis Kempton, 86, passed away on December 31, 2006, at Orem, Utah after a short illness. Alice was born January 4, 1920, in Salem, Utah to John Lynn Davis and Chloie Jane Hatch.

She graduated from Salem High School in 1938.

She married the love of her life, Howard William Kempton, on June 28, 1940, in Payson Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1950. The two of them shared a devoted, loving, and full life together for over 65 years.

Alice retired from work as a telephone operator, supervisor, and trainer after 35 years at Bell Telephone.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Young Women, and worked with the Single Adults for many years. She also supported her husband in his many church callings, including his service as Bishop of the Midvale 4th Ward and his service with the Boy Scouts of America.

Alice and Howard were avid BYU supporters, attending every football and basketball home game and many away games for fifty years. They also traveled with BYU tours. They enjoyed traveling and took family members on many wonderful vacations.

They share a love of gardening and fruit farming at their orchard on West Mountain. Alice preserved hundreds of bottles of fruit every year. Alice was a very hard worker and was known for her cooking. She spent much of her time baking cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was called the "Cookie Grandma" by her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, K. Howard (Sheryl) Kempton, Orem; her grandchildren, Patricia (Aaron) Kammerman, Kearns; Sheryl (Ryan) Carty, Salt Lake; Mary (Jason) Kemp, Orem; Elizabeth (Dar) Quealy, Midvale; Jonathan (Mijoung) Kempton, Pyongtaek, Korea; Mark Kempton, Orem; her great-grandchildren, John, Reed, Anna, Hyrum, and Elizabeth Kammerman; Britton and Haley Kemp; Chloie Kempton; her brother, Herb; and her sister, Laverne.
