Funeral service for Lillian Pauline Knapp, 88, of Ellendale and formerly of Ashley, ND will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Kulm Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Pastor Bob Forbes will officiate.

Burial will be at Kulm Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery.

Lillian died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Lillian Pauline Cherney, daughter of Philip and Mary (Michalenko) Cherney was born June 7, 1928 at Dickinson, ND. She grew in Dickinson until the family moved to Forbes, ND when Lillian was a teenager.

She was united in marriage to Clifford Knapp on July 27, 1947 at Edgeley, ND. They made their home on Clifford’s family farm until 1949 when they moved to Ellendale where she worked at the hospital. In 1953 they moved to West Palm Beach, FL. In 1967 they moved to Ashley where she was a homemaker and actively involved in the family photography business. Clifford died July 30, 2004 and Lillian remained in Ashley until moving to Ellendale in 2012.

Lillian’s grandchildren were a big part of her life. She was also active in the Dorcas Society.

Lillian is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Rabine of Ellendale and Brenda Knapp of Fargo; one grandson Sam (Julie Hahne) of Ellendale; two granddaughters, Melissa Bock of Aberdeen and Stacy (Kirk) Ludwig of Fargo; four great-grandsons, Justin Bock, Joshua Bock, James Bock and Matthew Haase; two great-granddaughters, Crysta Haase and Gemma Ludwig; one sister Betty Christianson of Minneapolis, MN and two brothers, Wayne (Ann) Cherney of Bettendorf, IA and Emil (Arlene) Cherney of Idaho Falls, ID.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five brothers, Otto, George, Taft, Laudie and Ernest.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Ellendale has been entrusted with arrangements.
